What on earth was I thinking?!

So, this year for Christmas I was thinking it would be fun to make things.. You know like stockings.. and ornaments for my tree. I even thought to myself, oh I could bust this stuff out no problem! It would most certainly only take one or two days... Little did I know that the items I choose to make would take so long... Ugh. Let me show you...

First my stockings.. I found the tutorial HERE! Super easy, and they turned out pretty dang cute! Just don't look too closely or you will see all the flaws...lol.

So they took probably like two hours total to make all three.. I am proud of them..lol. and enjoy admiring them from a far...

Now the other thing I decided to make was some ornaments. I made like 4 different kinds of ornaments for our tree.. One of which was very time consuming...

You see that little ball of string? Yeah. I have made like twenty of those little guys, and it has taken days to get that much... The most time consuming part is the waiting for them to dry.. I found the idea on PINTEREST.. Oh speaking of which. If you don't know what Pinterest is, go google it. Seriously so addicting. I love it.

But, for what I was able to do, I will admit. My tree looks pretty awesome and I cannot wait to show you the whole tree. Or if you'd like you are welcome to come check it out yourself, and be jealous! Okay, I am exhausted, and I have a whole day of things to get done today... Ugh. Wish me luck!

reversable car seat cover turorial

I want to extend a huge congratulations to one of my best friend Bri, she will be welcoming her first child in just a couple of weeks, and I loved making this for her!

I picked out two different types of fabric, I was in love with this bright floral print and have been thinking about what I could make with it for weeks now. So glad I finally found a reason. I picked 1 1/4 yard of each. So a total of 2 1/2 yards.

Next I pinned the two materials facing each other, and ironed it. I figured it made the process faster... After ironing. I pinned it together. The square measured 35 x 40 inches.

I then stitched all around the square, except about 5 inches in one spot. You can make it smaller, you just need to be able to pull it right side out.

Now for the remaining section that needs to be finished I took the double sided iron on paper, and cute a small strip, folded in the fabric pieces to match the edges. and ironed it closed.

The edge finished nicely, and I didn't need any stitching on the outside.

After that, I picked some ribbon, which I cut 4 pieces into 15 inches long each. I then measured out to the middle of the square and placed 2 pieces of ribbon 12 inches apart. I stitched those on.

Then rotated and did the same thing on the opposite side.

And you're done! I didn't have a car seat to show the finished product on, but perhaps my friend Bri will take a photo of hers, and lend it to me. I dressed up the cover a bit more by making some twisted fabric flowers two in each type of fabric, and pinned them to the opposite sides, adding more contrast. It was super super cute. I will get def get a finished photo! Enjoy!

It was a super easy, and inexpensive baby gift, and I think I will be giving more and more of these!

AND, 100....

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. This is my 100th post!! Oh my gosh.... tear. sniffle. I'd like to thank, well... lots of people. My husband for putting up with me, all my friends for letting me blog about them, and putting up with me when I rant, and complain, and to all of you, who read my blog, and wait while I procrastinate to get up another post.

YES, I have made it... well, I have made a milestone. I cannot wait til I am blogging the 200th, or even 500th blog post. Yikes, that is a lot of blogging!

But for today, with it being the 100th post and all, I would like to share my semi-done dream board. I say 'semi' mainly because, I know there are other things I want to add to it, but I haven't found that right other thing, but it's out there!

Yes, I used crayon for my dream board.. but I love to color, and it was lots and lots of fun to make!

I actually really like, and it looks awesome on my bedroom wall!! Plus the picture up in the corner, I don't know if you can see it.. That's me, almost 5 years ago, when I was my skinniest, and I look smokin' hot. So, that gives me some motivation to be lookin' that slammin' again! Oh yeah! Hey, it's my dream board.. not yours.

Oh yes, things are lookin' awesome. I got another tutorial that I am gonna post on Monday. I had to wait for my friends baby shower today, so that she didn't see what I made her before hand. Plus with being sick, and everything... my month of tutorials got away from me. FAIL.

Don't hate me.

But, I have a bunch of exciting things for the end of March, and with April right around the corner, I am looking forward to April showers, and lots of photos! I hope your weekend is going well thus far, and we will be seeing you Monday, with an awesome tutorial, and a few other post to follow!

Burlap Wreath Tutorial

I found this awesome wreath on this blog I stalk.. I decided, I wanted to make it. I found this wreath HERE! But, I am gonna give ya my own tutorial, so you can just stay tuned to my blog.

Supplies
wreath of any size.. I choose 16 inches
hot glue gun
burlap, about two yards
different kinds of fabric. I choose about 4 different kinds, if you want more that’s fine too.
Buttons, or any other kind of brads, or tacks to place in the center of your circles
twine
small clothes pins

cut out circles from the burlap, and fabric that you have picked out.. Size doesn’t matter, and they don’t have to be perfect. That is what is so great about this project, you don’t have to be professional.

After cutting out about 100 or so circles from various materials... Ugh.. This is the time consuming part.. But if you fold your fabric right.. You can get about 4 circles at once. Put the circles off to the side, and get the rest of your burlap out. No worries this wasn't even half of the amount of circles I cut out..

You take your burlap, cute it about 4 inches wide, and the length of the burlap it’s self.. I ended up using about 4 strips to wrap the entire wreath. Obviously every’s wrapping technique is different, and it also depends on what size of wreath you get.

Wreath wrapped and lookin' so good!

Now start placing the circles on your wreath. Over lapping, and pushing sides up are a bonus. I waited til I was done putting on all the circles, til I glued on the buttons.

Almost finished. After this I glued the twine onto the back of the wreath to give a clothes line effect. Then I printed out the word 'welcome' and hung it up like clothing. I love it!

It looks great on my door! I am so glad, I finally got something put on my door!

gettin' ready for March

So, this month, I learned how to do these awesome floral fabric flowers... I can't remember what blog I got it off of, by when I remember... I'll let you know, and make sure they get full credit.. Either way, I was really excited when I made the crate paper flowers, and I decided that I wanted to do them in fabric, so that they would last longer. Plus I think I like how they look more so, than the crate paper..

So stinkin' cute. Seriously, my favorite holiday, and I cannot wait. Remember March is gonna be my creating month. I am over the moon with this idea! Oh also, my follow blogger, J, is taking up my month challenge of gratitude. I am always happy to see that I influence others in a positive way! You can check out her blog HERE!

Family Cloth Tutorial

Heads up to new readers, or for any one who is unaware. If you do not know what family cloths are, please go HERE.

Finally! I can now put up my family cloth tutorial. It has taken me a few days, and with needing to get a few more photos, and then getting said photos onto my computer it has been quite the task. I should really get with it. I have a few other things that I need to make, and they are collecting dust.

So first things first, I picked out my fabric I wanted. I went with two different cotton materials, the red with the flowers and the gray with the black floral. I really liked them. All the other blogs that I have read on this, you can use pretty much anything for family cloth. Old t-shirts, bedding, etc. But I wanted something that was nicer, and more unison. For the other side of the cloth, I used a muslim material, it's cheap, and I really like how it looked against my other material. Oh, I should tell you, I bought the pre-cut quarter panels. You know, the kind that we folded in neat squares, and placed more or less right in front of the other fabric. I think it's cheaper, and it saves me from cutting more.

After cutting the muslim material to the same size of the opposite material. I placed them back to back, and laid out my paper on top. I measured it out to 6 inches, I got about 12 squares per quarter panel.

It took about 20 mins, but I finally got it all cut out and ready to go. They looked great, before I even began sewing.

Now the benefit to doing them 6 inches, is that I basically did a finishing stitch on them, and cut the over hang. I used a zig-zag stitch, and so they were super quick, and simple.

Now, I just cut the small over hang, or if you like it, you are welcome to leave it. I however liked the more finished edge.

Doesn't it look great?! I won't lie, I am pretty proud of myself.

Also, while I was purchasing my fabric this week, I came across the clearance section, and picked up this adorable basket, with my favorite color, orange, and it has paisleys- you can never go wrong, with either combination. I placed the basket next to my toilet.

Also, I choose the dry method of family cloth. You can find out about that HERE. I know the website I suggested is about cloth diapers, but it is the same idea. So, this is my pail, clearly labeled "not trash". So now all my friends who read my blog, and come to my house, don't have to ask what it's for. Oh man, my poor friends.

Well that is it, my first step towards going green. I want you to know, I am fully aware that this is not for everyone, and you may clearly not share the same views as I do. But, I like it, so I am sticking with it.

valentines table top

Alright, I know I seriously have lacked on the post, but give me a break, I have been beyond sick, and barely able to pull myselg out of bed somedays. This cold really kicked my butt. But while I was held up, I managed to let my creative mind be adventurous. I found this tutorial, and decided I really wanted to give it a try. It was cheap, and if I messed it up, I could always blame it on the sickness. So, I know mine look no where near as nice as her's... But.. for the purpose, and because in the end I covered it with the top of the cake display.

Obviously this is the finished product, on top of my much needed to be ironed table cloth. YIKES! sorry 'bout that. I also made a few little wrapped tissue balls, with newspaper hearts.. and then wrapped some tool around it to add some fluff.

Truly, I think it looks cute. And if you don't then you don't need to come to my house. Just kidding. You're always welcome.

So glad I was able to be productive, and get a few things done. I also managed to start my family cloths, which are almost done, and I will be able to post that tutorial tomorrow. Then hopefully I will get my unpaper towels finished. Which I must share with you, I picked the cutest fabric out for both of them! Cannot wait!
